WELCOME 2010

New year is around the corner with only two days are left. When we have a quick look on a past decade it have both positive and negative aspects. It witness many natural calamities. But one of the most attractive feature of this new year is developement of technology and communication. what were the changes this decade brought to us?
1)As i said above, developement of communication and technology is one of the important aspect of this decade. At the beginning of this millineum, cellphones were only used by rich people. But now cellphones became one of the essentials of the life. Even in that shape and mode of usage of that cellphones had been considerably undergone changes in the past decade. At the beginning cellphones were look like pencil box but now cellphones became slim and has not only used used for communication purpose but also has many interesting features like camera, internet etc. Now it a era of 3G phones. This developement is really a gift of past decade.
2) Though at the end of the decade, there was a economic downturn, this decade witness considerable economic developement.Particularly, past decade has uplift economic condition of many middle class indian families. Youngsters working in IT companies get attaractive salary in lakhs. As a consequences of this, real estate markets have gone up in metro cities.
3) Another impact of this decade is eroding cultural values. Philosopy of this past decade is nothing wrong untill you caught red handed.
4) Natural calamities:
2004: tsunami hits coasts along indian ocean which costs thousands of lives
2005: Hurricane catrina attacks us
2009: India witness drought and flood at the same time.
5)Terrorist attack:
2001:US twin tower attack which made Bush to declare war on terror. This attack had changed the course of world politics.
2003: Attack on indian parliament.
2009: Mumbai attack
6) End of this decade is a setback to srilankan tamils. LTTE had eliminated and nearly 3 lakhs people languishing in IDP camps
7) As for as my personal life is concerned, this decade is really good for me . I have achieved my dream of becoming an advocate. But there is no end for my dreams. I want to carve niche for myself in advocate profession and also want to do PhD in law.Only coming decade knows fate of my dreams.
So this decade gave both boons and curses.I think we have the ability to change curse into boon. Let's hope coming decade will bring peace and prosperity to all.

PALIPADAI OF RAJARAJA CHOLAN I

PALIPADAI OF RAJARAJA I


Rajaraja cholan was one of the great tamil king. he laid foundation for the expansion of later chola empire. He was not only a great king but also a great personality. He was also a good administarater. Complete land survey was conducted during his reign. His most mangnificient work is Thanjavur Big temple.Several tamil novels were composed with Rajaraja as a hero including magnum opus ponniyin selven which steels thousands of hearts.
But unfortunately, memorial (palipadai) of Rajaraja cannot be founded. Some people said it was situated in udayalur near Kumbakonam. But such claim is not authentic. some historions opined that sivalingam in udayalur which claims to be a palipadai lingam is a ordinary sivalingam which is washed away by rain and flood and setteled in that place. Here i have to explain about palipadai. Palipadai means a siva temble built upon burial place of erstwhile kings and warriors. Palipadai sivalingam is different from ordinary sivaligam by square shape bottom. Lets come to udayalur again, inscription in palkulathamman temple which claims to have information regarding Rajaraja palipadai actually refers only palace used by rajaraja at udayalur. So, Rajaraja memorial is not situated at udayalur.
Then Rajaraja palipadai situate at which place? there is no authentic answer. some people even claims that Rajaraja become a sidhar during his last years, and attain jiva samadhi at Thanjavur Big temple, thats why structure of big temple is different from other temple.In big temple goprum of sanctum sactrum is taller than main gopuram. But there is no evidence for this claim.
Government of Tamilnadu, must take concrete efforts to find a memorial of this great Tamil king.

TELEGANA AND TAMILNADU

Few parties in Tamilnadu raise their voices for bifurication of Tamilnadu into north Tamilnadu and south Tamilnadu after telugana issue gain momentum recently. Not only now, they have raised the above issue for few years. Is it wise to raise bifurication issue now, when Tamils in great hardship? whether bifurication is necessary for devolepment of southern parts of Tamilnadu? The answer is surely no. Tamilnadu should not be bufuricate for the following reason:
1) Now Tamilnadu has to struggle with neibouring states like Karnataka, Kerela, Andra for sharing of river water. If Tamilnadu is bifuricate into two states that too with river Cauvery as boundry, then Tamils has to fight not only with Karnataka but also within themselves for sharing of Cauvery water.
2) If northen part of Tamilnadu is seperated as north Tamilnadu and south part as south Tamilnadu, then people in central Tamilnadu i.e people in Trichy Thanjavur,Nagai districts where to go? If they asked for another bifurication of cetral Tamilnadu and people of kongu region claim kongu nadu, then what to do?
3) Telugana issue is different from Tamilnadu, because people of Telugana is cultural wise and language wise different from rayalaseeema region. But people of Tamilnadu are homagenus . There is no different between people of Tamilnadu, language wise or culture wise. More than that telugana is seperate state before independence but Tamilnadu is not so.
4)There is no need for bifurication for development of southern region of Tamilnadu.It can be even achieved with out bifurication. Now it self govt of Tamilnadu itself taking constant efforts for the development of southern districts. Cities like Madurai , Thoothukudi has got face lift now.
5) Need of the hour is unity of Tamils, because Tamils are in troubled situation now. From river sharing issue to srilankan issue tamils has been betrayed. They should be united and must win their rights. Bifurication of Tamilnadu,wil surely seperate the tamils and will weeken them. so people raising bifurication of tamilnadu should think about above points and must give up their claim
